DGFUMC Summer Camp 2016 - Fearless Faith

What does it mean to be a part of a Christian community? How can the church be a resource that gives campers confidence and courage? Campers will explore how they themselves are a part of the Church and what that means about how we relate to one another and the world. Watch how the strength of Christian community casts out fear and replaces it with hope! The daily guides offer fun and creative ways to explore scripture, experience Christian community, and express joy through worship and song.

DGFUMC is offering this summer camp experience for children and youth from 2nd to 9th grade at the Wesley Woods Conference Center, Williams Bay, WI from June 20-24. The grade listed is the grade the student will be entering in the fall of 2016.

Registration for Summer Camp begins March 1 for DGFUMC members and April 1 for non-members.

Please note:  New this year, there is a registration deadline of June 1.

A $50 deposit is due at the time of registration with payment in full due by June 20.

Space is limited, so register early!

Church Budget Update - January 31, 2016

Since last week we have raised $5,100 of the needed $18,000 to close our budget gap. Additionally we have received $17,400 of the $30,000 in outstanding pledges.

We are grateful for this additional giving and ask any members who have not yet given to consider a special extra gift or pledge. One way the gap can be closed is if 120 households give an extra $150 for the year. You may use the form below to indicate your desire to contribute an additional gift.

Together @ 10 Worship Service

Join us Sunday, January 31 for a special service where the 9:30 and 11:00 services will be combined into ONE service at 10:00 a.m. This is a great time to make new friends, re-connect with old friends and bring guests to visit our church.

Stop by the gym before or after the 10:00 service to continue in fellowship and enjoy a Pancake Breakfast served by the youth. All donations help support the 2016 Spring Break Chapel Choir Tour.

Please note the 8:15 a.m. service will still be held in the Chapel.

Sacred Jazz Sunday

Please join us for this special Sunday, February 7, as we welcome the Downers Grove South Jazz Ensemble to our 9:30 & 11:00 worship services.

Joanna Circle No Longer Collecting Medicine Bottles

Due to the overwhelming response to the medicine bottle collection, Joanna Circle will no longer be collecting bottles. The Malawi Project, the organization that was receiving the bottles, posted the following notice on their website updating the status of the project.

UPDATE – DECEMBER 20, 2015 – AFTER REACHING MORE THAN 1 MILLION PILL CONTAINERS THIS PARTICULAR PROGRAM HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. The Malawi Project Board of Directors has turned its attention to (1) famine relief, (2) getting medical supplies, including 30 kidney dialysis machines, to Malawi as well as another shipment of over 500 wheelchairs and, (3) gaining the funds from contributors to build a new birthing center south of the capital city of Lilongwe. Thank you for your support of the pill container program and please continue with us on future projects.

Get On Board To Broadway - Sponsor a Chapel Choir Tour Bus Seat Today!

The 45th Annual Chapel Choir Tour will take place March 26-April 2, 2016 and you can help us cover some expenses by Getting On Board to Broadway and “sponsoring a bus seat” for $25. The cost of transportation is one of the largest line items in the tour budget, so offsetting some of the cost through seat sponsorships will help reduce the individual tour fee for choir members.

You can direct your sponsorship to a particular student or have it applied to the tour fund. Make checks payable to DGFUMC and write ‘Bus Sponsorship’ on the memo line.

Thank you for your support!
