We will watch the 1983 concert of Godspell. A Zoom link is available if you can’t be there in person (email carolyn@dgfumc.org for the link). \nAll Chapel Choir members are welcome to join us to watch this powerful performance\, listen to the magical music\, and take in the meaningful message. Our special guest will once again be John Neve\, joining us from Tucson\, Ariz. SUMMARY:Walking With Wesley Study
DESCRIPTION:Come experience the Wesleyan way as we learn about our foundational spiritual practices and beliefs. We’ll meet on Thursday evenings through March 21 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in Room 213. (We’ll be done in time for Chancel Choir practice!) \nAs a Methodist church\, we are part of a global Christian community with almost 300 years of history. Our practices and faith understanding are based on the work of John Wesley who was one of the key leaders of the early Methodist movement. There’s something transformative about the Wesleyan approach to the Christian faith. When he began his work there were four people called Methodist. Fifty years later there were 135\,000 Methodists and more than 500 preachers. Today\, there are many millions of Methodists all around the world. Learn more in this study. \nTo guide the discussion\, the group will use a short book – A Blueprint for Discipleship: Wesley’s General Rules as a Guide for Christian Living by Kevin Watson. SUMMARY:Community Kitchen dinner
DESCRIPTION:Our church hosts weekly Thursday evening dinners to help neighbors facing food insecurity in our community. We are looking for help with serving or cooking meals for our guests. Volunteers are needed to set up\, serve\, and clean up on Thursdays from 5:15 – 6:45 p.m. weekly\, bi-weekly\, or monthly – whatever your schedule permits. \nIndividuals and groups are always welcome! If you are part of a work area or group\, please consider signing your group up for a regular monthly or quarterly time slot and join together to cover one night’s needs – enjoy time together in a great group-building activity! \nThese efforts are in conjunction with six other churches to offer five nights of meals in Downers Grove each week and are our church’s way of assisting as close to our previous service as a PADS weekly host church. Sign up to help. \nIf you need help using the sign-up\, reach out to Carolyn in the church office at carolyn@dgfumc.org.For questions or more information\, contact Marty Wronkiewicz at mwronk@ameritech.net or Kim Bosch at kim.bosch@comcast.net.
