Would you like to become involved in a vital part of our church community?  Do you want to get to know Junior High students (your own or others)?  Would you like to know what our Confirmation program is all about?  The way to do all of that is to help teach confirmation!    Teaching confirmation has never been so easy, fun, and meaningful all at the same time.

Our confirmation program is called Onward Bound and is a 2 year program for 7th and 8th graders.  Each Wednesday, the students meet in the Gym for dinner from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. then class time is from 7:00—7:50 p.m.  This year we are planning on having close to 80 students in the program.  With this size group we are in need of many teachers and that’s where you come in.

The program has been set up so that anyone who feels a calling to the ministry of teaching confirmation will be able to step easily into the role of teacher.  We have worked very hard to make this a teacher friendly program and meaningful for the students.  You can be a teacher even if you have never taught before!

The program is divided into six week rotations where you will teach ONE lesson (the same lesson) for THREE different Wednesdays to a group of ten to fifteen 7th or 8th graders (a shepherd/helper will be in the room with you).  For the other three Wednesdays of that six week rotation you will NOT be teaching. 

The 7th graders have two rotations.   The first rotation begins on November 4 and the second on Feb. 3. The 8th graders have three rotations.  The first rotation begins on Oct. 7, the second on Nov. 18, and the third on Mar. 10.  There will be no classes for 7th or 8th graders during the month of December. 

We have gone through each lesson and tried to prepare everything you might need.  Each lesson includes:  a lesson plan; any materials you may need (copies will be already made for you); worksheets, etc.    A training session will be scheduled for September. 

Together we can teach our youth--together we can grow in faith!
