Join us on Sunday, May 15 at our 9:30 & 11:00 a.m. worship services as we celebrate the completion of our Sanctuary Memorial Stained Glass Windows project. It's Time

One of the other major legislative issues at General Conference in May will be the denomination’s stance and statements on homosexuality. Reconciling Ministries Network invites all Reconciling Communities to join together in worship on Sunday, May 1st to declare that “It’s Time” for The United Methodist Church to end its discrimination against LGBTQ persons. Join us in the Parlor on Sunday to sign a poster or have your picture taken with a sign saying “It’s Time” which will be posted to social media. RMN supports The Simple Plan as a proposal coming before the 2016 General Conference to be held in Portland, Oregon. Details may be found here on the RMN website.

A number of congregations in Northern Illinois Conference are hosting the film An Act of Love, a documentary about Rev. Frank Schaefer, who had his ministerial credentials revoked in December, 2013 after officiating his son’s same-sex wedding. On Sunday, May 1st, Community UMC, 20 N. Center St., Naperville, will host a screening from 3:00-5:30pm. Following the screening, there will be talkback led by Love Your Neighbor Coalition members Matt Berryman, RMN Executive Director, and Sue Laurie of Love Prevails.

Chancel Choir Spring Cantata - Sunrise Mass

The Chancel Choir will be presenting an evocative contemporary cantata, Sunrise Mass, by Norwegian-American Ola Gjeilo on Sunday, April 17 at the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services. Gjeilo, widely regarded as an important new composer, has created “a most beautiful and satisfying music for our time, a beacon of hope in the world.”

The four movements of the piece - The Spheres, Sunrise, The City, and Identity & The Ground - move from transparent and celestial to emotional and dramatic. Projection designs will enhance the listener’s experience. This young composer intends Sunrise Mass to be “a metaphor for human development from child to maturity and a spiritual journey.”

We hope you will join us for this unique and moving musical experience!

DGFUMC Summer Camp 2016 - Fearless Faith

What does it mean to be a part of a Christian community? How can the church be a resource that gives campers confidence and courage? Campers will explore how they themselves are a part of the Church and what that means about how we relate to one another and the world. Watch how the strength of Christian community casts out fear and replaces it with hope! The daily guides offer fun and creative ways to explore scripture, experience Christian community, and express joy through worship and song.

DGFUMC is offering this summer camp experience for children and youth from 2nd to 9th grade at the Wesley Woods Conference Center, Williams Bay, WI from June 20-24. The grade listed is the grade the student will be entering in the fall of 2016.
