Upcoming Events

This fall we are pleased to welcome back Osvaldo Vena as the leader of our Sunday morning bible study class. Rev. Vena, a member of our church, is a professor of New Testament Interpretation at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston.

To start we will finish studying the book of Revelation. Don’t worry if you did not attend the spring class as our first few sessions this fall will include a catch up on the previous material. After completing our study of Revelation, we will move to the book of Mark and a brief account of Daniel.

The Worship Work Area requests your assistance in helping us understand what elements of worship provide you with a meaningful and rich experience. Please join us Sunday, August 20 and Sunday, October 15 for our final Worship Cafés following (abbreviated) worship services. The Cafés are a follow-up to our Worship Survey conducted earlier this summer and are an opportunity to engage in fellowship as we explore ideas around our worship experiences. The simple, guided questions shared in small groups allows each person to express his or her thoughts, and will help us discover together what is most meaningful to each other in the important area of worship.

Responses from the first Café, held July 16, are currently posted in the 2nd floor hallway by the pastors’ offices for all to review.

You are welcome to attend one, two or all of the cafés. We hope to see you there!

This book of essays is from one of the foremost theologians of our day and offers the reader a unique insight into the revelation of God. Pannenberg is Professor Emeritus of Theology at the University of Munich and author of several influential books.

We will only bite off a small section of this book each week, so that the readings will not be a hardship for anyone. Get ready for some interesting discussions around the exciting ideas presented in this book.

Books will be available for sale during class and in the church office for $25.

Start your New Year’s Resolution early. Give yourself the gift of a better life!

Fit and Feast will meet once a month from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. during the Family Fellowship dinner, babysitting will be provided. During that time you will meet with a group leader to choose a goal to commit to for a month in each of four areas; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

For example, you may choose from a list to commit to - exercise 15 minutes a day, look for a silver lining in stressful events, have a weekly chat with a friend, apologize when you wrong someone - simple things that can make a difference over time.

Each month we will discuss how your commitments went and you can choose to renew or change your goals for the next month. Sign-up in the church office and/or look for more information in the parlor and in the bulletin soon.
