Beginning on September 16, Dr. Osvaldo Vena will continue the study of the Gospel of Mark which began last spring. Osvaldo is a professor of New Testament at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, and author of Jesus, Disciple of the Kingdom: Mark's Christology for a Community in Crisis as well as a member of our congregation. Osvaldo has described Jesus as "the disciple par excellence of the kingdom of God, a model for our daily, contemporary journey as God's people." The class, which meets in Room 213 at 9:15am each Sunday, is invited to explore the meaning and context of passages that constantly yield surprises even though they seem so well known to us.

New participants are always welcome.

Join us for learning and spiritual growth as Rev. Howard Milkman, retired pastor and trained counselor, leads a four-session study of A Crazy, Holy  Grace: The Healing Power of Pain and Memory by the American writer and theologian, Frederick Buechner, beginning Sunday, September 16. This book, which was published last year, is a collection of essays on how God is present with "a grace that wells up out of the lostness and pain of the world and of our own inner worlds." Of Buechner's writing, John Ortberg wrote, "“He isn’t trying to persuade – he’s trying to understand what he himself believes and thinks. And that honesty is more persuasive than the most polished argument.”

The series will be held on Sundays at 11 a.m in Room 213. The book and participation guide are available in the church office and available at the first study session.

The Bridge Board invites you to share in a special afternoon of music as we welcome back some of our favorite performers from the past few years for an Encore. Whether you missed these wonderful performances the first time around or you just want to hear them again, now is your chance!

Proceeds help support our Bridge families as we work with them toward self-sufficiency. Tickets can be purchased during the week for $8 in the church office or at the door for $10. Additional donations are always appreciated.

If you are unable to attend the concert and would like to support the work of the Bridge Board, donations are always accepted in the church office.

Refreshments will be served after the program. We hope you will join us!
