Prayer and Transfiguration
Submitted by Jim McDonald on February 24, 2017 - 4:30pm
We have had many moments this February to experience the warmth and beauty of sunshine as bright rays of light have unexpectedly descended upon us during this normally bleak and gray season. An unexpected ray of light is the topic of my sermon this Sunday as I will share the story of Jesus' transfiguration on the mountain before Peter, James and John from Matthew 17.
According to tradition, this is the moment Jesus gets authenticated, becomes established as genuine. I will explore this story to see what it might say about prayer - speaking to three different kinds of prayer - and follow this story as to how it leads into this discussion.
We continue to move toward spring, the season of new beginnings, with each day. New life and opportunities are all around us. I hope you will join us on Sunday morning to experience these rays of light and hope together as a congregation.
God, as known to us in Jesus Christ, welcomes all.
We welcome people of any race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, social or economic status, employment status, or life situation; including people with physical or mental illness or disability.
